Birth of the blues
Before AD 1872 there was no Blue Light. Mists covered the land and Man walked as if in a dream, directionless and full of misery.
In that year, The Four Apostles, Moses, Peter of McNeil, Peter of Campbell and William were delivered of a vision so powerful that they felt a mighty passion to share it with all peoples of the planet. They named it Blue Heaven.
And so it came to pass that in BB 0, in the year of the Birth of the Blues, the team of Rangers appeared on the field of immortal combat for the first time.
Blue Heaven unites kin
In the year BB 1 The Philistines did see the team of Rangers, and were full of mirth, saying “Lo! Thou hath no kit and are a mere rabble. Thou shalt not play in the Temple of The League!”
But The Apostles´ hearts were bursting with ardour, and after a year in the wilderness playing in humble friendlies, acquired enough silver to buy Blue strips, boots and dubbin.
In the year BB 2 The Philistines did permit the Rangers to play in the Temple of the League and did laugh no more. The Wise Ones saw the Blue Light, and were converted into Bluenoses. Those who witnessed the Rangers on the field of immortal combat were filled with emotion, crying, “This is the way! These Rangers are Simply the Best!”
And so it came to pass that the witnesses became believers and formed a kinship with other believers in all lands of the planet. And Bluenose travellers in far away lands will always find shelter and a firm handshake in the inn of a fellow Bluenose.
Bobbins bar Tenerife
It is now BB 122, and the Temple of The League is now called The Scottish Premier League. Some of the language has changed since those far off days too. But Rangers have topped the League more than 50 times, a world record! The vision is still emphatically alive.
